Springdale Public Schools: Teach Them All

Client: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Over the past two decades, Springdale, Arkansas has seen an influx of immigrant families coming to the region for jobs. The community at large has embraced the newcomers, and the school system has transformed its educational approaches to best serve the new residents as well as existing families. In this brief, we explore how stable leadership, a welcoming approach, and a strong desire for continuous improvement has made Springdale a district to watch.

This brief is part of the Districts Rising series. Each brief in the series tells the story of a school district and its efforts to raise student achievement and prepare students for college and career. The briefs describe the strategies that districts have employed to raise academic standards for students, improve educator effectiveness, and engage stakeholders in the design and implementation of new policies. Nancy Zuckerbrod from KSA Plus Communications Was the lead author of this brief.
