Sarah Berg

Sarah leads Education First’s work on social-emotional learning and comprehensive student development, working with collaboratives, districts and foundations to leverage SEL to advance student and school outcomes. For more than 20 years, Sarah has worked across sectors to bring effective and equitable SEL practice to improving education, driven by the belief that these skills are critical success factors for college, career, and life, and for building a more just society. Prior to Education First, Sarah co-founded a digital learning company called Ripple Effects and produced a line of multi-award winning social-emotional learning tools that been proven effective in multiple third party randomized controlled trials, and are included in national model program lists. She has worked with systems, schools, and educators in 10 states, to provide implementation planning, evaluation, training and coaching around these SEL programs She’s also consulted with education and social impact organizations, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aspire Public Schools, McKinsey Social Initiative, Committee for Children, and Alder Graduate School of Education, in such areas as research and evaluation, innovation, business planning, program development, teacher and leader preparation and development, and strategy. She has a BA from Brown University, is an avid world traveler, and gets a kick out of creating fairy gardens.
