Ashton is an analyst on the Outstanding Educators team and is primarily responsible for research and policy analysis on teacher labor markets.
Ashton received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication studies with a focus in Rhetoric and Political Communication from The University of Memphis and a Master of Public Policy in K12 Education Policy from Vanderbilt University. During her graduate education, she became interested in social determinants surrounding education and is broadly interested in how those can impact students’ educational trajectories. She has a background in social justice-aligned nonprofit work, and during her time in graduate school worked with a research-practice partnership to better improve policy implementation for education in the state of Tennessee. Ashton is particularly interested in providing equity-centered and data-driven solutions that will improve educational experiences for teachers, families and students—especially those of color. Most recently she worked at a large urban district as a research analyst.
In her spare time, Ashton loves reality television and like any good Gen Z/Millennial cusp-er, can be found scrolling endlessly on TikTok!
