Emily Brookhart facilitates collaboration, community engagement and adult learning with a focus on building coherent academic, assessment and accountability systems at the federal, state and local levels.
As the daughter of an elementary school teacher, Emily has always viewed education as one of the most important elements in social change. She started her career as a Teach for America corps member, teaching high school English and debate in Las Vegas, NV. Emily left the classroom to pursue a career in social work to better support her students, but quickly realized she could never fully leave education behind. Her career has taken her to a high school counseling office, a community college and a state education agency.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Idaho in International Studies and English, a Master of Education from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Master of Social Work from Portland State University. She enjoys puzzling over the New York Times crossword, reading thick fantasy and science fiction novels and cheering on the Utah Royals FC.
