Joshua Hodge conducts research, data analysis and presents to various stakeholders on strategies and policies that will improve student learning outcomes and overall wellbeing for the Engaged Students team. He has led various projects and conferences to uplift literacy outcomes in DC and made social and emotional learning an emphasis in classrooms.
Joshua is passionate about being a pioneer for education equity and truly believes that it is our mission to ensure all students across the country regardless of race, gender or socioeconomic background receive a high-quality education and enroll in a postsecondary program after their K12 education. While in high school Josh participated in a program called Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) which allowed him to graduate from college before he finished high school, and it his goal that all students have the opportunity to participate in dual enrollment. Josh has worked in the education sector for three years, previously working as the Policy and Communications Manager at Democrats for Education Reform DC (DFER DC) and as the Senior Communications Manager at Great Minnesota Schools (GMS).
When Josh isn’t working, he loves spending time with his family, friends and traveling. He has been to over 10 countries, but his favorite place to travel is to his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also loves sports and played baseball as a second baseman and shortstop, but his favorite sport is football and most notably Tom Brady, which he is deeply saddened by Tom’s recent retirement.
