Sarah partners with school districts, state agencies and other organizations to develop strategies to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and well-qualified teacher workforce. She brings over a decade of experience in educator effectiveness and development to Education First, and is especially passionate about developing educators to bring asset-based, culturally responsive and sustaining approaches to instruction.
Prior to joining Ed First, Sarah served as the Senior Director of Design in the New York City Department of Education’s Office of Teacher Development, where she supported the design and implementation of policies and programs aimed at supporting effective, culturally responsive and sustaining educational practice. In addition, she is passionate about facilitating learning experiences that give educators space to deeply examine the ways that their identities, histories and socialization impact their practice. She also loves coaching, data and a good project plan.
Sarah holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Virginia and an M.P.A. from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys hiking, exploring her new hometown outside Washington, DC, learning guitar, finding or cooking delicious vegan food, and hanging out with her spouse and many pets.
